JOURNEY TO TAZMANIA
This was our third visit to Tanzania. The longest part of the journey is the train ride from Dar es Salaam to Tabora. It is hard to imagine getting on the train one morning and not arriving at our destination until the following evening! We were in the carriage for over 34 hours on our return!
We were told that special meetings had been arranged for us, and that we were taking follow up meetings to a crusade that was taking place. During the journey we had time to prepare our hearts for the amazing time ahead of us. This was to be an unforgettable trip.
10,000 GATHER TO WORSHIP
Due to more stringent controls by the aircraft companies, it has become more difficult to transport large quantities of instruments than it used to be.
At one stage it looked like none of our instruments were going, but after a lot of negotiating they all went. I had a feeling that God wanted us to be here in Africa, as much as he wanted the guitars.
WORSHIP AFRICAN STYLE
It has been four years since we last took guitars to Tabora in Tanzania. Many of the instruments we had taken, were now showing signs that they had been well used! The Africans just love to worship. We took a series of meetings encouraging the Church to draw closer to God. It was amazing to see how over this time many of them made commitments and thanked us for our words. Each night we preached to a packed out Church, full of people eager to understand more from God. The 16 guitars we took would be used by many of the churches in the area.
SADDLEBACK U.S.A
It was the privilege of Liz and I to visit Saddleback Church in California, for the Purpose Driven Church Conference along with others from our home church. We decided that we would bless them with a couple of guitars for their missions department. The highlight of the week was an evening concert attended by over 4,000. Rick Munchow, the worship leader chose to give the guitars away in the middle of the concert, much to the delight of everyone there. It was a pleasure to give to a church that is giving so much to others.
