HUNGARY MISSION

We have had many visits to Hungary over the years. We often hear how God is moving in the Roma community, the leaders invited us to come and see for ourselves.

Since Brexit it has become more difficult to send and take guitars, flying with Lufthansa to Germany eliminates this problem. Our guitars are transferred as we change flights and are delivered without any duty. This meant we could take 10 guitars on this trip for 10 pastors of Roma churches. We are in no doubt that these instruments will be put to good use.

We first found out that we could freely take 10 guitars via Germany and Flix buss when we went to SERBIA in March.

RWANDA MISSION

I am really blessed to be a part of a Church that has a Missional focus, and encourages Guitar Aid’s vision. Riverside Church Exeter is actively involved in supporting C.A.M. Rwanda, an organization helping marginalized women and Children.

This was our second visit to Rwanda. For me it’s a privilege to be able to take guitars, which can be given to youth groups, churches and individuals, raising the levels of worship through music. I think the second visit to a nation is really important, as this is an indication that a long term relationship is being set up.

Missions are always about relationship, and where possible, long term connections. It’s easy to see the joy on the faces of those receiving a new guitar

ALBANIA & NORTH MACEDONIA

Our most recent mission was to Albania and North Macedonia. With careful planning from our good friend Ralf, we managed to take 14 guitars and an electronic drum kit.

During our time there we visited seven churches. This was a time of making new friends and connecting with people we have not seen for a while. In Pogradec we had a very special surprise, as we met someone we hadn’t seen for 33 years. Dr Renato Preza, (middle photo, far right), was just 17 when we first visited his church. Here is his story; “After several visits to the Bible Way church, Dave and John Sumner donated a guitar to our church, I still have the guitar in my home.

The gift of the guitar gave meaning to faith. With this guitar, many learned to worship the Lord. We were poor at that time and couldn’t afford to buy one. Many young people in our church learned to play on that instrument. It was the day they came that I gave my heart to Jesus, I started to worship, and little by little, I led the children’s group, then the youth group, then to be the Pastor of the church. 33 years later I hear their names in the church of Dave and John, I show them a picture of the guitar with their address on it. For 33 years I have been following Jesus, it all started with the gift of a guitar!

SHARING THE VISION OF GUITAR AID

Since my book ‘Take the Next Step’ was published, many opportunities to share have come. God TV brought a film crew and produced an excellent feature.

I was also invited to share at Campfest in SLOVAKIA, this was an amazing experience, especially as Martin Smith, who did the foreword for my book, was the main worship leader there. Other churches, from different denomination, have invited me to Preach and share. One of my highlights was at the AOG Ministers in Training Forum, where over 200 MIT delegates heard of God’s faithfulness through the work of Guitar Aid, many of them bought my book!

Thank you for supporting the work of Guitar Aid, together we’re changing the atmosphere in many places, releasing others into new levels of worship.

Our Account number is 00034394 Sort Code 40-52-40 any gift is really appreciated.

As Martin Smith says, “It’s not just a guitar; it’s a weapon of worship”

Thank you so much for your support!

Dave Sumner.
