BRYN HAWORTH CONCERT
In September we hosted a Bryn Haworth concert at Riverside Christian Centre to promote the work and vision of Guitar Aid. The place was overflowing with about 350 people. Everyone appreciated Bryn’s music and testimony. How one man makes a guitar sound so good is a mystery to me! The evening served to prove just what could be done with the instrument. After the concert, the curtains went back to reveal the 3 new Guitar Aid instruments, more about them overleaf. I was happy to be able to report that since Guitar sponsorship started last November, our own brand Guitars are now in 24 different countries.
A cheque for £1,000 was then presented on behalf of the Riverside Charity Shop. This will go towards purchasing more instruments. The evening finished up with a splendid buffet in the Riverview room, yes all 350 had plenty to eat, thanks to Liz and her team of helpers.
Many people said how much they enjoyed the evening. If you missed it this time, don’t worry, we are planning to make the Guitar Aid evening an annual event.
CICI’S STORY
It was on my first trip to Romania in 1990 that I met Cici. He was a 12-year-old lad who was keen to worship God. I gave him his first guitar; little did I realize what this would mean to him. Now 12 years later, he is touring throughout Romania with his band “Born Again”. He also runs the Treasure House orphanage. I see the same potential in many such young men as I travel throughout the world. Who knows? Perhaps the guitar you sponsor will raise up another Cici.
CICI’S STORY
THE NEW CORINTHIAN CUTAWAY
After the success of the Corinthian Guitar last year, we decided to extend our range of Guitars. Whilst spending time with the production team in the factory, they agreed to manufacture an instrument to meet our own design and specification.
The Corinthian Cutaway features a solid maple neck, improved bridge, cutaway body and a 3 band Graphic Equalizer. Available in 5 colours, blue, red, green, grey and natural maple. These guitars have been well received wherever we have taken them.
EASTERN EUROPEAN TRIP – OCTOBER 2002
Marian Lipovsky (seated left) is the Director of Youth for Christ in Slovakia. He travels throughout the country with his band Timothy. Each summer, Marian organizes Campfest; a youth outreach festival where about 3,800 young people get together to hear a variety of gospel bands. The whole team from Slovakia were delighted to receive the new Guitar Aid instruments.
Jarek Bily and his wife Jane, from the Czech Republic, are both keen guitarists. They take every opportunity to proclaim the gospel with their rock band, which have recently won a recording contract to produce another gospel album. Jarek is really impressed with the style and quality of the new guitars.
Christi Cazacu could not believe his eyes when we gave him one of our new 5 string basses…the EPPAT 5 (named after the 5 fold ministry, Evangelists, Prophets, Pastors, Apostles and Teachers). Christi‘s worship band has been touring throughout the summer, telling many of the love of Jesus. Up until now they have had to borrow a bass guitar.
Adi Galiger is responsible for organizing worship seminars throughout Romania. He has a clear vision to see worship leaders raised up, but has been unable to get instruments for them, that was until now. I believe this is the start of a long-term relationship between Adi and Guitar Aid.
Including those shown above, we took 33 guitars to Hungary, Austria, Romania, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Poland. Even at factory prices, these guitars cost over £2,000.
